Senior Strategic Planner

Public Sector People are working with a local council to recruit a Senior Strategic Planner for an initial 12-month temporary contract assignment. Council is located in Western Sydney.

As a senior strategic planner you will be responsible for leading key strategic planning projects including the review of planning instruments and the preparation of a new visions and plans. This role has a key focus on precinct planning / Masterplanning.

**Duties will include but not limited to**:

- Delivery of agreed planning outcomes as identified in Council’s Strategic Plan and Strategic Planning Branch work program.
- Undertake precinct planning in designated Growth areas, including the management of consultants undertaking specialist studies to support precinct planning.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of strategic land use policy
- Develop, implement and review strategic land use strategies, planning instruments, such as Local Environment Plans and Development Control Plans, and other policy documents according to relevant
legislation and in line with Council’s strategic direction.

**Requirements include**:

- Tertiary qualifications in Town Planning, or related discipline and/ or extensive job-related experience.
- Ability to manage complex projects, including the management of consultants, to achieve goals and meet deadlines in a consultative manner.
- A sound working knowledge of, and/or experience in, the implementation of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979, the Environmental Planning and Assessment Regulation 2000 and the NSW Local Government Act 1993.
