**About the Opportunity**
A permanent full-time Medical Laboratory Technician (Sample Coordinator) position, is available as part of the Cancer Somatic DNA testing service in the Department of Medical Genomics, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, NSW Health Pathology.

The primary duties of this role will involve liaising with both internal and external clients for the prompt delivery and retrieval of samples necessary to perform somatic cancer DNA testing. Additional duties will include the preparation of samples for DNA testing, FFPE DNA extraction, entry of patient data into a centralised laboratory information system, distribution of urgent results to relevant stakeholders and general administrative tasks as required.

Applicants for this position must have excellent communication and organisational skills and demonstrated ability of working as part of a large multidisciplinary team.

- Demonstrated knowledge in the significance of cancer somatic mutation testing, along with strong administrative and organizational skills, ensuring the efficient coordination of urgent DNA testing for advanced cancer patients and effective management of all stakeholders involved.
- Ability to work in a responsible and efficient manner and to manage competing priorities to meet deadlines
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment whilst working autonomously to deliver results within specified timeframes set to meet client expectations
- Customer focused approach displaying well-developed interpersonal skills and good oral and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with customers and patients as well as clinical laboratory staff
- Commitment to the principles of quality management and continuous quality improvement and to identify, develop and implement quality and service improvement activities
