This position works within the Media and Communications team to provide strategic and proactive communications advice in line with the City’s values of commitment, teamwork, courage and respect.

**Your new role**
- Develop and implement communications content within a defined portfolio targeted to internal and external stakeholders to support the delivery of the City’s projects and initiatives.
- Provide advice to senior personnel to identify communication needs and develop appropriate content across multiple channels.
- Write, manage and deliver monthly newsletters to businesses, residents and staff
- Work with all Alliances as a conduit to ensure the City’s intranet is up-to-date and all content is current. This will include training identified personnel from each alliance to be responsible for maintaining accuracy and currency of information.
- Consult with staff across the organisation and other stakeholders to understand their communications requirements and ongoing needs.
- Establish and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure a collaborative and integrated approach to the work of the organisation.
- Maintain compliant work practices in accordance with all relevant legislation, recordkeeping frameworks and all other relevant Council policies and procedures, and other frameworks.
- Ensure safe and compliant work practices in accordance with Western Australian Occupational Safety and Health legislation as well as the City’s safe systems of work.
- Perform other duties as directed when appropriate to the scope and level of this position

**What you'll need to succeed**
- Excellent written communications skills and story-telling ability.
- Effective relationship management skills, including a demonstrated ability to develop strong working relationships with stakeholders to achieve successful communications outcomes.
- Experience in media relations and crisis management.
- Experience working in a large, multi-disciplinary organisation.
- Relevant tertiary qualification and/or relevant experience.
- Current Police Clearance (within the preceding three months).
