The Department of Youth Justice is committed to keeping Queensland communities safe by addressing the complex causes of youth crime and supporting vulnerable young people. We provide early intervention, statutory youth justice, and detention services to ensure accountability and rehabilitation for young offenders.

About the Role

The Program Officer, Youth Justice Commissioning and Investment (AO5), plays a critical role in the development and implementation of crime prevention grants and programs. This temporary full-time position (to 31 December 2025, with possibility of extension) is based in Brisbane City, with flexible hybrid and remote work options.

As a Program Officer, you will:

- Support the delivery and monitoring of crime prevention grants and services.
- Provide advice to NGOs and departmental staff about funding initiatives, accountability requirements, and quality systems.
- Monitor performance, prepare reports and correspondence, and support capacity building within the community sector.
- Foster collaboration across Youth Justice and external stakeholders to ensure effective and culturally responsive service delivery.

What We're Looking For

We're seeking someone who can:

- Prioritise and organise projects in line with strategic commitments.
- Build relationships and work collaboratively.
- Use sound judgement and governance practices in managing grants and program compliance.
- Bring expertise (or quickly gain knowledge) in grant management systems (e.g. SmartyGrants), finance (SAP), and reporting tools (Excel, Word).
- Demonstrate cultural capability and inclusive workplace practices.
