THE ROLE
The Manager, Aboriginal Research and Evaluation reports to the Director, Evaluation and Priority Projects to provide strategic advice to strengthen the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing in research, data sovereignty and evaluation of Aboriginal programs and service delivery.
The role actively works collaboratively with DFFH executives, managers and program areas across the state in ensuring Aboriginal designed and delivered research, data and evaluation principles are embedded in Aboriginal program and service delivery. The role is also tasked with ensuring that policies and programs developed are providing strong client led outcomes and that there is Aboriginal voice in decision making processes.
The position will require a strong knowledge of Aboriginal culture and principles of self-determination, as well as proven highly developed leadership, negotiation and relationship building skills. It will also require a strong understanding of research, data sovereignty and evaluation principles.
ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE
- Work in partnership with Aboriginal community leaders to define and deliverresearch, data sovereignty and evaluation priorities for Aboriginal business across DFFH.
- Build your team's capabilities in Aboriginal research and evaluation, and mentor Aboriginal staff to support development of a pipeline of staff with those specialist skills in the department.
- Design an evaluation strategy in partnership with leadership in the Aboriginal Self-determination and Outcomes division and Aboriginal community leaders to enable the division to improve its effectiveness and enable appropriate learning, taking into account Aboriginal ways of working.
