About the OIC

The OIC is a small organisation that plays an important role in Queensland's integrity framework, building trust through transparency.

The OIC is an independent integrity agency that reports to Parliament. Our vision is an informed Queensland that values and respects information rights and responsibilities. We have a statutory role under the RTI Act and the IP Act to facilitate greater and easier access to information held by government agencies. We also assist agencies to understand their obligations under the IP Act to safeguard personal information that they hold. Our office reviews agency decisions about access to information, mediates privacy complaints, and monitors and reports on agency compliance to Parliament.

We are committed to building an inclusive culture that respects and promotes human rights and diversity. We promote a respectful workplace culture that is free from all forms of harassment, workplace bullying, discrimination and violence. We recognise the importance of supporting and retaining a mobile, flexible and agile workforce.
