Disability Support Worker

The Disability Support Worker plays a vital role in providing high-quality, person-centered care and support to individuals living with disability. The purpose of this role is to promote independence, enhance well-being, and support participants in achieving their personal goals. This is accomplished through assistance with daily living tasks, mobility, personal care, household management, and community participation. The overarching objective is to support participants in achieving their goals, while empowering them to lead fulfilling lives and actively participate in their communities.
**Specific accountabilities**
- Provide assistance with personal care tasks as required by the participant which may include bathing, dressing, toileting, and hygiene support
- Support participants with domestic duties, including meal preparation, shopping, cleaning, and laundry
- Assist with mobility and transport to appointments, community events, and social outings
- Facilitate engagement in recreational, educational, and skill-building activities
- Offer companionship and encouragement to build participants’ confidence and life skills
- Contribute to the development and implementation of support plans

**Skills/Knowledge**
**Essential**
- Rights to Work in Australia
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Valid Working with Children Check (for employment)
- Current First Aid Certificate
- Current CPR Certificate
- Completion of the NDIS Worker Orientation Module
- Infection Control Training
- Current valid Driver’s License
**Desirable**
- Medication training
- Prior Support Worker Experience Medication training
**Education/Qualifications**:
- Working towards or holding a Certificate III in Individual Support (CHC33015) or a Certificate IV in Disability (CHC43115)
