**The Role**
As a leader within the Defence Education, Learning and Training Authority (DELTA) you will report to the Director of DELTA and be responsible for the design, development and implementation of Learning and Development strategies and programs that enable the delivery of education and training initiatives across the Department of Defence.
The Learning and Development Manager is accountable under broad direction to perform and achieve complex learning and development work within an integrated workforce. They will require an in-depth knowledge of learning theory and methodologies, compliance with legislative frameworks, and Defence’s mission and learning policy requirements.
The Learning and Development Manager is accountable to plan, lead and manage a range of human and physical resources and exercise the associated people and financial responsibilities to achieve business outcomes.
They will manage one or more teams, develop and implement work plans, set performance indicators and review individual, team and business performance, focusing on identifying opportunities for building team capability and continuous improvement.

The Defence Education, Learning and Training Authority (DELTA), working within the Australian Defence College, ensures Education and Training across Defence is supported by theory based and evidence driven initiatives.
In this capacity, DELTA works to Commander of the Australian Defence College to set the strategic direction, provide higher-level policy, governance and oversight of the Education and Training Domain for all Defence: Navy, Army, Air Force, and the Australian Public Service.
This includes management of the Defence Registered Training Organisation (DRTO), developing and maintaining the Defence Learning Technology Environment (DLTE), exploring, and exploiting new learning technologies to enhance access to learning, and Information Steward for the Education and Training Domain.
Within DELTA, the Assistant Director Learning and Development Manager is part of an integrated workforce of 35 military personnel, Australian Public Service officers and supporting contractors.
- Highly developed verbal, written and communication skills to logically convey thoughts and ideas
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate the learning of a range of stakeholders at all levels
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills, ability to build sustain effective relationships and networks and an ability to influence key stakeholders in order to achieve effective strategic outcomes
- Demonstrated ability to provide clear and concise strategic guidance on learning and development activities and ability to assess the potential risks and long-term implications of this advice
- Ability to work in a fluid environment, remaining flexible, agile, and adaptable and supporting colleagues at short notice
- Experience coordinating projects and finances
