**ABOUT THE ROLE**

**Advisor, Navigation Safety & Digitalisation**

You will be responsible for:

- Leading the development of briefs, Executive-level papers, and other communication, which will serve to inform AMSA’s navigation safety and digitalisation policy and planning decisions.
- High level national representation and working across a variety of industry stakeholders
- Building and maintaining good working relationships within AMSA, with AMSA’s customers and stakeholders nationally and internationally.
- Work internationally, through bodies such as the International Maritime Organization (IMO), and the International Association of Marine Aids to Navigation and Lighthouse Authorities (IALA).
- Keeping abreast of our changing technical operating environment within the maritime industry both domestically and internationally, to ensure AMSA is best placed for future technological advancements, opportunities, and challenges.

**Advisor, Communication Systems**

You will be responsible for:

- Leading the development of briefs, Executive-level papers, and other communication, which will serve to inform AMSA’s maritime, aviation and search and rescue radiocommunication policy decisions.
- Providing specialist advice on aviation, maritime and search and rescue radiocommunication systems.
- Building and maintaining good working relationships within AMSA, with AMSA’s customers and stakeholders nationally and internationally.

**SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE**

**Advisor, Navigation Safety & Digitalisation**

To be successful in this position, you will have the following skills and experience:

- Tertiary qualifications in one or more of the following disciplines - marine electrical/electronic radio or telecommunication engineering, information technology systems, software engineering, autonomous systems, (or equivalent demonstrated formal training and experience).
- Demonstrated understanding of terrestrial and satellite radiocommunication systems. Understanding of, or the ability to quickly develop an understanding of, modern shipboard navigation and communications systems, digital data architectures, and data modelling solutions.
- Experience in analysing needs and comparing technical solutions.
- Basic knowledge of international obligations relating to navigation, maritime, aeronautical and search and rescue communications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Familiarisation, or the ability to quickly acquire an understanding of the operation of Vessel Traffic Services (VTS).
- Maritime experience is desirable, but not essential
