**Job Description**:
Squadron are looking for a talented Media Relations professional to play a key role in the public positioning Squadron Energy. Reporting to the Director of Stakeholder and Communication, the Head of Media and Communications will design and execute media strategy, maintain, and build key media relationships and be a trusted advisor to our CEO and leadership team.
We’re seeking a relationship-builder who has an existing media contacts book spanning journalists across all major news outlets. With strong command of the written word, broadcast knowledge and social media skills, you will have an instinctive ability to effectively tell our story.
Generating materials including press releases, briefing notes, social media, video, speeches, and media fact sheets is a key part of the role. Media training, event management and support for public speaking engagements will also be among the responsibilities of the Head of Media and Communications.

Duties include:
- Maintaining media relationships, shaping coverage, and building a trusted reputation for the business.
- Issues management and managing direct, day-to-day engagement with journalists.
- Supporting executives in all engagement with the media and public events.
- Developing engaging media materials, including press releases, video collateral, social media, briefing notes, speeches and executive talking points.
- Management of press events.
- Working closely with the individual project directors/project stakeholder teams to manage a coordinated media approach across the business.
- Assisting the development of content for policy submissions and corporate documents.
- Media monitoring and reporting against metrics for the leadership team.
- The role will be required to work closely with the existing Tattarang External Affairs and Communications team to ensure alignment as well as the Squadron Energy Government, Community and Policy teams.
**Qualifications**:
You’re tertiary qualified (preferred), but all relevant media and communications experience will be considered.
You have a minimum of 10 years’ experience in a relevant media and communications field.
You possess strong media management experience in a role dealing with critical issues.
You can demonstrate an understanding of the communications requirements of an asset intensive (development, construction, delivery, operation) organisation. Experience supporting the successful development of major infrastructure projects with Government highly desirable.
You can work across multiple projects and managing multiple internal and external relationships.
You have a deep knowledge of traditional media and the influence of the changing digital media landscape.
You have a track recording in building strategic, effective, and high-quality communications.
You can demonstrate strong, trusted relationships across key media.
You have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
You have highly developed interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to build strong stakeholder relationships both internally and externally.
You have excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to deliver to deadlines.
You have demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to mentor other team members.
You have an eye for quality, attention to detail and a crisp, concise turn of phrase.
