The School offers Bachelor and Master degrees in Media, with specialisations in Cinema Studies, Communication and Journalism; Media Studies, Public Relations and Advertising, and Screen Production. It also offers an interdisciplinary major in Media, Culture and Technology within the Bachelor of Arts. This major also forms the core of each of the Bachelor of Media degrees. Many students undertake combined and joint degrees with a large range of UNSW degree offerings. All programs are in high demand, experiencing rapid growth, and attract students with high entry qualifications.

**Why Your Role Matters**:
The School of the Arts and Media is seeking to appoint a 1 year fixed-term Education Focused Lecturer B to contribute to teaching in the Communication and Journalism specialisation of the Bachelor of Media. The appointee will be expected to develop and deliver hands-on courses in the practice of radio and podcasting, video journalism, and journalism production.

The appointee will work closely with other members of the Media academic and professional staff to further develop course offerings.

UNSW’s Education Focused roles (EF) enable academics to specialise in education and devote their time to delivering high-quality teaching and pursuing initiatives to enhance the educational experience of our students. Those appointed to this prestigious specialism will be expected to successfully drive educational excellence within the university’s teaching and learning communities.

The role of EF Lecturer reports to the Head of School.

**Responsibilities**:
Specific accountabilities for this role include (but are not limited to):

- Demonstrate and continuously develop a well-defined teaching philosophy that inspires student learning.
- Conduct classes, assess student learning achievements and support students in undergraduate and/or postgraduate courses in line with UNSW policy.
- Design and develop learning activities and resources, and assessment and feedback, using a range of suitable approaches and learning environments.
- Initiate the development of experimental approaches to teaching and learning with the support of more senior academics.
- Support learning progression with students as individuals (through such activities as one-to-one consultation) and as a cohort (through general course related advice) to achieve positive learning and employability outcomes for students.
- Manage course administration as Course Authority, including academic quality assurance.

**Who You Are**:
The skills and experience you will have for the Lecturer (Level B) position include (but are not limited to):

- Extensive hands-on work experience in radio and/or video journalism
- Demonstrated experience in teaching and learning design, development and delivery at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level
- Experience using and/or designing with educational technologies and online delivery methods
- Evidence of teaching effectiveness and passion for educational excellence (e.g. relevant discipline-based curriculum design and development at a variety of levels and scales)
- Evidence of highly developed interpersonal and organisational skills
- Evidence of ability to support and inspire students from diverse backgrounds and support student equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives
