**Position Information**:
Fairy Meadow Demonstration School empowers students from pre-school to Year 6 to be curious, creative, life-long learners. Our school fosters long established and strong links with the University of Wollongong Faculty of Education. Nestled conveniently in the business and leisure hub of Fairy Meadow in the northern suburbs of Wollongong, our school has a proud history of serving a diverse, multi-cultural and supportive school community.

Fairy Meadow Demonstration School is an open, inclusive and well-resourced educational environment. The school features a pre-school, support and mainstream classes and is proud to work in partnership with the University of Wollongong in demonstrating innovative and high-quality teaching practice to hundreds of pre-service teachers every year. Our school enrolment of 366 students includes 13 mainstream and 5 support classes (consisting of one AU, two IM and two IO classes). Our students benefit immeasurably from skilled and dedicated staff who promote high expectations for success and place a high importance on teacher quality. Fairy Meadow Demonstration School seeks authentic and effective parental involvement through regular Parents and Citizens Association meetings in addition to curriculum based and whole school events. **Selection Criteria**:
In addition to the general selection criteria,

Approval to teach special education and/or experience and expertise teaching students with autism as well as students with mild to severe intellectual disabilities.

Demonstrated ability to lead evidence-informed and evaluative practices to develop and implement innovative and personalised learning programs that improve outcomes for students.

Proven capacity to build positive, inclusive and trusting relationships with students, families, staff, external agencies and the broader community.

Evidence of highly visible, approachable and collaborative leadership with the capacity to balance classroom teaching with the successful organisation and management of a complex support unit.

**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
