Working for Local Government, our client is looking for an Accounts Payable Officer for a 3-month temporary assignment to start ASAP. The role will require you to work 5 days a week, Monday to Friday working 37.5 hours per week. You will be required to work the first week fulltime in the office, which is based in the heart of Geelong CBD, but then the role is able to offer a hybrid working arrangement after the first week. The role is paying $43.14 plus super per hour.

Reporting into the Accounts Payable Supervisor the role is a multiskilled position, that contributes to the organisation purchasing to pay process through the timely and efficient management of supplies, invoices, payments, systems and other related transactions.

Some of your key responsibilities will be:

- Maintenance and administration of the financial system (Accounts Payable) to ensure supplier information and related activities are accurate and compliant with legal and audit requirements.
- Support organisational processes within the financial system (Purchasing) relating to the accounts payable functional responsibilities.
- Management and storage of all incoming invoices received both electronically and by mail in a secure and efficient manner.
- Assist with month end close of the organisations financial system including the preparation, processing, and storage of all supporting documentation.
- Distribution and tracking of invoices.
- Processing, verifying and reconciling invoices.
- Reconciliation of supplier statements including follow up of outstanding invoices and credits.

To be successful in this role, you will have a proven background and experience in working as an Accounts Payable Officer and some knowledge and experience in end to end purchasing to pay process. Experience working in an organisation which processes a high volume of invoices across a diverse range of services on a monthly basis would be highly regarded. Strong communication and customer service skills is critical, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment is key. You must be able to work in a team but also work autonomously at times. You must have a proficient data entry speed and accuracy with strong attention to detail and if you have knowledge of Oracle Fusion, this would be an advantage bit not essential. There will be training in the system.
