Karratha Senior High School has a vital opportunity for an Aboriginal And Islander Education Officer to support the educational outcomes of Indigenous students.

This role is critical in ensuring that students, their families and the community are well supported through knowledge, understanding and sharing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history, language and culture.

The ideal candidate will have a strong link to Aboriginal culture and be able to work effectively with families and the local community to develop an education program that meets their needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Liaise between the community and the school to develop a culturally relevant education program.
  • Mentor and provide pastoral care to Indigenous students, particularly those at risk, to ensure their participation and achievement in the school environment.
  • Establish positive working relationships with families and the local community.

Requirements:

  • Strong connection to Aboriginal culture.
  • Able to work in teams and individually to achieve successful outcomes for students and their families.
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact on a range of levels in various settings and with different audiences.
