At our organization, we are seeking a highly skilled Biosecurity and Environmental Specialist to join our team.
Job DescriptionWe are looking for an experienced professional who can undertake biosecurity inspections and activities of vessels, aircraft, cargo, and passengers in accordance with applicable legislation. This includes liaising with customers and clients, carrying out field work, and preparing reports.
The successful applicant will be responsible for assisting scientific staff as required, plant surveillance, and insect trapping. They will also assist with equipment, vehicle, and vessel checks as needed.

Required Skills and Qualifications- Demonstrated understanding of the culture and issues facing Indigenous Australians
- Ability to speak Torres Strait Creole would be highly advantageous
- Working remotely and under limited supervision
- Flexible approach to problem solving
- Making decisions within the scope of your authority through sound judgement and decision making
- Sound understanding of legislative powers and use them in a professional manner
- Confidence and willingness to challenge even where doubt exists
- Demonstrated ability to manage conflict
