Role Overview

This Senior Media & Communications Specialist role is ideal for an experienced professional with a strong track record in managing reactive media enquiries, delivering proactive content, and working alongside social media specialists to reach target audiences.

The ideal candidate will have exceptional writing skills, the ability to craft compelling media releases, opinion pieces, communication plans, speeches, and briefing materials. They will also be able to build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, pitch stories effectively, and create engaging social media content.

Key Responsibilities
  • Media Engagement – Respond to reactive media enquiries, deliver proactive content, manage interviews, brief spokespeople, and develop collateral such as media releases, communication plans, and key messages.
  • Speechwriting – Draft speeches for EA’s Speakers Bureau in alignment with media content and policy priorities.
  • Reporting & Analysis – Use EA’s media monitoring platform to deliver daily news updates, provide tailored reports, track emerging issues, and share insights with stakeholders.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Media Relations Expertise – Experience in a front-line media role with a track record of generating positive coverage that supports business and advocacy objectives.
  • Advocacy & Political Awareness – Strong understanding of the role of traditional and social media in advocacy, as well as knowledge of political processes, government, and peak bodies.
  • Exceptional Writing Skills – Ability to craft compelling media releases, opinion pieces, communication plans, speeches, and briefing materials.
