Head of Strategy and Commercial Management

This is an exciting opportunity to join AGL Energy as the Head of Strategy and Commercial Management, leading the Technology business operations and driving strategic growth.
As a key member of the Technology leadership team, you will be responsible for governing, managing, and ensuring the quality and performance of the Technology business operations. You will support the Technology function to do the right things in the right ways, by lifting the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the Technology business area.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver across key areas of commercial management and operations, resource management, reporting and insights, risk management and planning, and portfolio management.
- Work with the Technology leadership team to define our new ways of working operating model.
- Implement financial controls and manage IT CAPEX and OPEX against plans.
- Lead planning and portfolio management for effective investment decisions.
- Ensure cost-effective IT delivery and commercial governance with suppliers and coordinate closely with Finance, Procurement, and Capital Governance.
- Implement demand management for accurate business alignment and cost reduction.
- Introduce lean management disciplines, which together form a continuous improvement system to enable us to deliver value more efficiently, and more closely connect strategy, goals, and meaningful purpose.
- Establish operational dashboards for each of the IT functions to provide valuable insights to the performance of Technology, across productivity, speed, engagement, and value.
You will be an experienced leader, and have worked within leadership teams within a large and complex organisation. We're looking for a thought leader and problem solver with a strong working knowledge of Information Technology systems, processes, and procedures and commercial acumen.
What you'll bring to the table:
- Background in Program Management with a tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline.
- Strong delivery background and experience ensuring projects are delivered on time, in budget, and to quality standards.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills with the ability to influence and bring people on the journey.
- Strong documentation, financial, and facilitation skills.
- Practical knowledge of technology methodologies such as Agile, Lean 6 Sigma, AWS, Azure, and information security.
