Job DescriptionThe Dementia Care Specialist Lead will be responsible for providing tailored care and support to individuals living with dementia in our complex behaviour cottages. This role requires a high level of clinical expertise, strong leadership skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advocate for residents to ensure their care is person-centred and focused on their strengths, capacities, and well-being.
- Facilitate clinical care delivery by Registered Nurses and Carers.
- Provide hands-on modelling, coaching, and mentoring in clinical and complex behaviour management areas and processes.
- Consult on case management and clinical decision-making.
- Oversee clinical care and ensure professional competence as a Registered Nurse with experience in complex dementia-specific care.
- Support and investigate clinical/resident incidents as required.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Tertiary qualifications in specialised dementia and/or mental health service nursing for older people.
- Significant experience operating as a consultant or specialist nurse preferably within Aged Care.
- Demonstrated ability to support complex behaviours and psychological symptoms of dementia, motivate and develop a team, and effectively work with other staff.
- Strong leadership and influencing skills.
- Attitude of service.
- Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- Excellent analytical skills.
- Strong administrative and computer skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Empathy and patience.
