Employment Type: Continuing Position – Full Time

The University of Adelaide, in collaboration with the State Government of South Australia, is seeking an esteemed academic research leader to contribute to the Australian Institute for Machine Learning (AIML).

The appointed individual will be tasked with establishing and nurturing a vibrant research initiative focused on computer vision or machine learning. Their scholarly contributions are expected to have significant national and international repercussions, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration within the broader academic community and enhancing industry partnerships on both national and global scales.

This role includes a startup package, aligned with available funding and budget, to develop local research capabilities.

Key Qualifications:

  • A PhD in computer science or a related field;
  • A proven research history of international acclaim and sustained excellence in machine learning, computer vision, or artificial intelligence, demonstrated through recent high-quality research outputs and peer recognition;
  • Proven capability to develop expansive research programs, supported by research funding;
  • Established ability to cultivate meaningful external relationships with a diverse array of non-academic partners and industry;
  • Demonstrated success in attracting and mentoring postgraduate students, evidenced by timely completions.
