The University of Adelaide, in collaboration with the State Government of South Australia, is seeking an esteemed academic research leader to contribute to the Australian Institute for Machine Learning (AIML).

The ideal candidate will be tasked with developing and advancing a vibrant research initiative in the domains of computer vision or machine learning. Their scholarly contributions are expected to have significant national and international influence, fostering interdisciplinary partnerships across the broader academic landscape and enhancing engagement with industry stakeholders on both national and global scales.

This role includes a startup package aligned with available funding to establish local research capabilities.

Key Qualifications:

  • A PhD in computer science or a related field;
  • A distinguished research history demonstrating excellence in machine learning, computer vision, or artificial intelligence, supported by recent high-caliber research outputs and peer acknowledgment;
  • Proven ability to design and implement research programs of considerable scope, backed by research funding;
  • Established capacity to cultivate meaningful external partnerships with a diverse array of non-academic collaborators and industry;
  • Proven track record in attracting and mentoring postgraduate students, evidenced by timely completions.
