About the Role
Yourtown is seeking a skilled Child and Family Counsellor to join our team at San Miguel, a child-centred family residential service in North Richmond, NSW. As a Counsellor, you will work with young parents and their children to provide intensive, individualised support and improve their safety, wellbeing, and life prospects.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide therapeutic and counselling interventions for young people and their families using a range of modalities.
- Participate in intake, assessment, workshops, and referrals.
- Collaborate with the team to develop and implement individualised support plans.
- Actively liaise with network and local agencies to ensure comprehensive support for clients.
- Co-facilitate staff training on mental health and trauma.
Requirements
- Bachelor qualifications in Psychology, Social Work, or Counselling, with at least 3 years of experience working therapeutically with at-risk children, young people, and families.
- Strong understanding of trauma and its impacts on development, behaviours, parenting, and attachment.
- Experience using a wide range of modalities, including expressive and creative therapies.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
