About the Role

Yourtown is a trusted provider of services for young people, with a focus on mental health and wellbeing, long-term unemployment, prevention of youth suicide, child protection, as well as support for those experiencing domestic and family violence.

We are seeking a skilled Parenting and Child Development Worker to join our team at San Miguel family residential service in North Richmond NSW.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide assessment and support to young parents and their children
  • Develop and deliver activities that support children to be physically and emotionally safe and learn new skills
  • Support parents to develop their parenting skills and build positive, secure attachments with their children

Requirements

  • Passion, commitment and belief in young people
  • Experience working with vulnerable children and families with complex needs
  • A minimum of Diploma qualification in Human Services or related field
  • Demonstrated understanding of child protection and assessing and managing risk
  • Experience in developing and implementing innovative programs such as parenting and mothercraft skills, playgroups and other programs that foster children's development
