Mandurah Baptist College is a leading independent, co-educational institution with a strong commitment to providing a comprehensive education in a Christian context.

The College's mission is to develop life-ready students who reflect the character of Jesus, and the Dean of Teaching and Learning (Secondary) will play a pivotal role in achieving this goal.

Reporting to the Head of Secondary, the successful candidate will be responsible for the management and oversight of teaching and learning in the Secondary School, including the leadership of the Heads of Learning Area team.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of working with teams to create high-performing cultures that promote student learning, and will have a sound understanding of contemporary pedagogy and wellbeing paradigms.

The Secondary School at Mandurah Baptist College currently caters for over 700 students from Year 7 to 12, with plans to expand this capacity in coming years.

A major capital upgrade is currently underway, with a state-of-the-art STEAM Centre opening in 2022 and a new teaching and learning block planned for 2025.

The College is committed to being a child-safe organisation and will demonstrate its leadership and commitment to student safety and wellbeing through the implementation of the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations.

The successful candidate will be expected to uphold and live the Mission, Vision and Christian values of Mandurah Baptist College.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of curriculum and pedagogy in the Secondary School
  • Provide strategic leadership and guidance to the Heads of Learning Area team
  • Collaborate with teachers and staff to create high-performing cultures that promote student learning
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including parents and the wider community
  • Contribute to the College's commitment to being a child-safe organisation

Requirements:

  • A living Christian faith
  • Senior curriculum and/or pastoral and teaching experience
  • A sound understanding of contemporary pedagogy and wellbeing paradigms
  • Strong team-building and organisational capacity
  • A willingness to go the extra mile to achieve excellence
  • Evident leadership capacity; strong referee commendations
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Relevant teaching qualifications and current registration with the Teachers Registration Board of Western Australia (TRBWA)
  • Current Working with Children Check
  • Valid Australian work rights to apply for this position
