
Forensic Evidence Management Team Leader

Job Description- Manage and coordinate the provision of evidence tracking functions throughout the Department.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of systems for controlled issue of Centre reports under Centre seal, electronically monitoring casework management for all Units within the Centre.
- Determine which articles should be received for evidentiary examination in consultation with forensic specialists.
- Process and preserve biological, chemical, drug, and other crime samples as part of evidence storage.
- Supervise and train staff in the provision of and adherence to strict procedures for electronic recording of casework management, exhibit tracking, cataloguing, and auditing procedures.
- Oversee administrative tasks including management of Pending casework system, preparation of audit reports, compilation of management statistics, correspondence etc.
- Investigate and make recommendations for improving evidence tracking procedures, including casework audit and centralised case file storage.
- Present supportive evidence of fact in Courts of Law regarding exhibit tracking as required.
- Ability to supervise a team, undertake routine staff administration, correctly allocate team priorities and ensure deadlines are met.
- CORRESPONDENCE MANAGEMENT SKILLS AND PROVEN CAPACITY TO COORDINATE TASKS DETERMINE PRIORITIES MONITOR WORKFLOWS AND OPERATE EFFECTIVELY AS A MEMBER IN A TEAM ENVIRONMENT
- Well-developed research, conceptual, and analytical skills with demonstrated planning and organising ability.
- Ability to work flexibly with limited supervision or lead a team and contribute to team or organisation goals.
- Sound computer skills particularly in word-processing and other software packages.
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills dealing effectively with a wide range of personnel within a large and diverse organisation focusing on continual improvement.
- Understanding of customer service requirements of the position and a demonstrated record of strong commitment and achievement in meeting customer needs.
- Proven record of ethical behaviour and a demonstrated commitment to organisational values.
- Position located at 31 Forensic Drive Macleod VIC.
- Applicants must be an Australian Citizen Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa.
- Incumbent will be required to complete OHS requirements of the organisation which may include local level training relating to equipment usage and Hazardous Chemicals.
- Possess a current Victorian Driver Licence and hold or qualify within three months a White Class Driver Authority.
- At any point in time Department Head may arrange FEMG staff to undergo drug and alcohol testing via Victoria Police Drug and Alcohol Testing Unit DATU.
