Role Overview

School Counsellor position at a NSW public school. A permanent full-time role recruited via the NSW Department of Education.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide counselling and psychological assessment to support student learning, wellbeing and family understanding of student needs.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other staff to strengthen student learning and wellbeing outcomes.
  • Engage in regular professional supervision with a Senior Psychologist and participate in group/peer supervision as part of the district school counselling team.
  • Work with a multidisciplinary team and interact with multiple school communities and external partners as appropriate.
  • Participate in continuing professional development and support registration with the Psychology Board of Australia as required.

Qualifications and Selection Criteria

  • Experience in counselling using evidence-based interventions with an understanding of the mental health needs of children and young people.
  • Experience in psychological assessment of children and young people, including case formulation and report writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with key stakeholders to improve learning and wellbeing outcomes for students from diverse backgrounds and needs.
