Community Midwife Opportunity

Our health service is seeking an experienced Community Midwife to provide quality care to Aboriginal people in a rural area.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and assist with midwifery treatments and care activities using a patient-centered approach.
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team providing community midwifery services and ensuring continuity of care for mothers and children.
  • Mentor and support Aboriginal Health Practitioners and trainees with ante natal and post-natal care.
  • Perform clinical midwifery duties identified as required in maternity care plans according to best available evidence.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a community-based setting and collaborate in a multidisciplinary team.

A demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the principles of primary health care and how they relate to maternal and infant health in relation to Aboriginal children, women, and families is essential.

Requirements:
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a community-based setting and collaborate in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the principles of primary health care.
  • Experience working with Aboriginal communities and individuals.

Competency in clinical midwifery duties and the ability to work autonomously are highly regarded.
