Health, Safety and Sustainability Leader:
- Location: Brisbane:
About the role:
- As a proactive and energetic leader in Health, Safety and Sustainability, you will drive excellence and embed a strong behavioral safety culture across all levels and functions within the site.
- You will manage one highly skilled direct report and continually look for opportunities to improve the site’s safety, environmental protection, hygiene, and compliance of activities.
Main responsibilities:
- Promote and display proactive health and safety practices.
- Minimise the environmental impact of business operations.
- Display a visible commitment to building a strong safety culture for all team members.
- Ensure serious injuries remain low and active participation in proactive safety programs aims for a continuous reduction in the rate of incidents related to unsafe practices and conditions.
- Identify compliance risks in Health, Safety, Environment and Workers Compensation and assist managers to develop strategies to achieve compliance.
- Ensure that relevant stakeholders are aware and informed of all statutory obligations, industry codes of practice, and organisational policies and requirements.
- Compliance with fire control, insurance, flood, hazardous and flammable materials regulations.
- Provide guidance and leadership with respect to incident investigation and hazard reduction, and appropriate and timely reporting of incidents.
- Responsible for developing policies and procedures in the department.
About you:
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Health & Safety, Science or Engineering.
- QLD Workplace Health & Safety Officer Certification.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Return to Work and Rehabilitation Coordinator (Highly desirable).
- Certificate IV in Environment Management.
- Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment.
- Fire Safety Advisor.
Experience:
- GMP and HSE experience in a medium to large organisation OR Industrial, Resources industries.
- Experience in rehabilitation and return to work (nice to have).
- Proven examples of identifying opportunities, and taking ownership in Behavioural Safety Culture programs.
Soft/ Technical Skills:
- Proactive and positive in nature, bringing a sense of energy.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and foster strong internal relationships cross-functionally and at all levels.
- Influencing skills and high-level communication.
- Highly organised and attention to detail.
