Health, Safety and Sustainability Leader:

About the role:

  • As a proactive and energetic leader in Health, Safety and Sustainability, you will drive excellence and embed a strong behavioral safety culture across all levels and functions within the site.
  • You will manage one highly skilled direct report and continually look for opportunities to improve the site’s safety, environmental protection, hygiene, and compliance of activities.

Main responsibilities:

  • Promote and display proactive health and safety practices.
  • Minimise the environmental impact of business operations.
  • Display a visible commitment to building a strong safety culture for all team members.
  • Ensure serious injuries remain low and active participation in proactive safety programs aims for a continuous reduction in the rate of incidents related to unsafe practices and conditions.
  • Identify compliance risks in Health, Safety, Environment and Workers Compensation and assist managers to develop strategies to achieve compliance.
  • Ensure that relevant stakeholders are aware and informed of all statutory obligations, industry codes of practice, and organisational policies and requirements.
  • Compliance with fire control, insurance, flood, hazardous and flammable materials regulations.
  • Provide guidance and leadership with respect to incident investigation and hazard reduction, and appropriate and timely reporting of incidents.
  • Responsible for developing policies and procedures in the department.

About you:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Health & Safety, Science or Engineering.
  • QLD Workplace Health & Safety Officer Certification.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Return to Work and Rehabilitation Coordinator (Highly desirable).
  • Certificate IV in Environment Management.
  • Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment.
  • Fire Safety Advisor.

Experience:

  • GMP and HSE experience in a medium to large organisation OR Industrial, Resources industries.
  • Experience in rehabilitation and return to work (nice to have).
  • Proven examples of identifying opportunities, and taking ownership in Behavioural Safety Culture programs.

Soft/ Technical Skills:

  • Proactive and positive in nature, bringing a sense of energy.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and foster strong internal relationships cross-functionally and at all levels.
  • Influencing skills and high-level communication.
  • Highly organised and attention to detail.
