Nurse Unit Manager Job Overview

This is a leadership position overseeing the day-to-day clinical and resource management of our Emergency Department.

As a key member of the leadership team, you will drive continuous improvement to ensure high-quality patient care delivery.

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Nurse Unit Manager to lead our team in delivering safe, high-quality patient care.

  • Leading nursing staff to deliver excellent patient outcomes.
  • Overseeing daily operational management including clinical governance, staffing, and resource allocation.
  • Driving initiatives for improved patient outcomes and service delivery.
  • Supporting staff recruitment, rostering, and performance management.
  • Contributing to hospital strategic objectives as part of the management team.

To succeed in this role, you must have:

  • Current registration with AHPRA and relevant nursing qualifications.
  • Minimum eight years' post-graduate experience with recent management experience in a hospital setting.
  • Proven leadership skills to mentor, develop, and inspire clinical teams.
  • Strong financial, human resource, and operational management skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving abilities.

The ideal candidate has post-graduate qualifications in management or specialty nursing, experience in surgical, critical care, or emergency nursing, and membership of a relevant professional organisation.
