Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a technology strategy that aligns with our business goals and objectives.
  • Team Leadership: Lead a team of solution architects, mobile engineers, front-end engineers, service engineers, and test engineers, and provide guidance on technology, tools, and processes.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with our Domain Leads, Tribe Leaders, and other stakeholders to ensure effective collaboration and alignment across our Digital Technology Domains and Woolies X business platforms.
  • Operational Excellence: Assist in the ongoing evolution of our technology team's organisational and operating model to ensure we have the right engineering people and processes in place to achieve our objectives.
  • Problem-Solving: Facilitate trade-off decisions, remove roadblocks, and distil complex situations and problems into solution sets and recommendations that can be easily understood by diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Performance Metrics: Define metrics and continuously measure and improve engineering and platform performance.
  • Vendor Management: Manage technology budgets and vendor relationships.
Requirements
  • Leadership Experience: Proven track record in leading and motivating a professional team, with a purpose-led approach to leadership.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of native App and web development fundamentals.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Commercial Acumen: Commercially oriented and willing to take informed risks.
  • Resilience: Resilient in the face of challenges and adversity, with the ability to achieve outcomes across the organisation without relying on hierarchical authority.
