About the Role

The Senior Operations Team Lead plays a critical role in helping ANZ manage its Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter-Terrorist Financing (CTF) risk and reporting obligations. This position is key in allowing the team to achieve its goals of developing and retaining the best AML investigators in the industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end value chain related to AML Operations through onshore and offshore capability centers.
  • Identify, build, and maintain key business internal and external stakeholder relationships.
  • Manage the allocation of work for AML Analysts & Investigators in cells by using Active Operations Management (capacity and capability forecasting) to ensure adherence to Service Level Objectives (SLO) and Service Level Agreements (SLA) in the short, medium, and long term.
  • Identify and understand trends, how they impact risk, and if required, take remedial action.
  • Provide informed and timely updates related to operations/function.
  • Prepare detailed reports and update senior management and executives in relation to sensitive matters and investigations.
  • Support the knowledge of all staff both onshore and in capability centers.
  • Identify opportunities that mitigate risk and improve operational efficiencies.
  • Uplift staff capability to build industry-leading financial crime investigators.

Requirements

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • An understanding of AML investigations and reporting of Money Laundering, Terrorist Financing, and other related Financial Crimes.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced team, working collaboratively with other Senior Team Leads, with minimal supervision.
  • Coaching and development of staff and team building to foster cohesion between support functions and production cells.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills (including business writing) with proven stakeholder engagement.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize self and direct reports.
  • Proactive in problem-solving and putting forward sustainable solutions to business problems.
  • Data analysis and interpretation of operational and quality metrics.
  • Experience in the financial services industry.
