Job Title: Director Medical Services

We are seeking a visionary leader to join our team as Director Medical Services in the Eyre and Far North Local Health Network. This exciting opportunity offers a unique chance to shape the future of medical services across our network.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will assist the Executive Director Medical Services in ensuring the safe, effective, and efficient delivery of medical services across the EFNLHN. Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing critical support to clinical services to maintain high standards of service provision
  • Leading and inspiring medical staff at our hospitals, acting as a role model for professional standards and mitigating issues
  • Implementing innovations, such as an electronic medical record system, across the EFNLHN
  • Overseeing medical services, including Clinical Governance, Clinical Risk Management, Morbidity & Mortality Reviews, and Clinical Incident Reviews
  • Promoting safety and supporting the establishment and maintenance of a positive health and safety culture
  • Managing medical staff and medical service contracts, including recruitment, orientation, and competency maintenance
  • Coordinating services and ensuring effective communication and coordination between resident and visiting specialists, medical officers, and general practitioners
  • Building networks with relevant service providers and metropolitan health units
  • Providing strategic and clinical input into clinical services and service delivery models across the LHN
Requirements:

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • A Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (BMBS) or equivalent, with Appropriate Specialist Qualifications and registerable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with Specialist registration
  • A proven track record in innovative healthcare delivery and strong academic background
  • Ability to engage, motivate, and inspire teams with a history of achieving objectives
  • Capacity to think and act strategically at a system-wide level
  • Experience in driving transformational change and continuous improvement
  • Exceptional verbal and written skills, with a respect for diverse teams and effective teamwork

We offer a competitive total indicative remuneration package, including award salary, managerial allowance, professional development, A&R Allowance, Super, and Private Practice Arrangements if applicable. Appointment will be subject to a satisfactory Criminal History Check and appropriate immunisation requirements.
