Medical Nurse Opportunity
About the role:
Our medical unit is located on the ground floor of our hospital and contains 23 beds including six sub-acute rehabilitation beds. The Medical Unit is co-located with the Intensive Care Unit, Emergency Department, Oncology and Rehabilitation Units.
The four-bed Intensive Care Unit provides a level 2 service in coronary care, high dependency and intensive care services including trauma and complex surgical cases. It is staffed with specialist nursing personnel who support patients with exceptional clinical care and problem-solving skills.
The Surgical Unit presents an opportunity for surgical nursing experience in both short stay and same day surgery, acute care and surgical patients. Procedures include endoscopy, urology, gynaecology, orthopaedics, bariatric surgery, ENT and general surgery.
Elective surgeries are performed five days a week, with on-call services available for emergencies and trauma 365 days a year. Our operating suite consists of two theatres, a Central Sterile Supply Department, Post-Anaesthesia Care Unit, Preadmission Clinic and Direct Admission.
Our Emergency Department is adjacent to the Medical/Intensive Care Unit and Medical Imaging Department, streamlining emergency care for members of the community. The department is staffed to provide 24-hour access for emergency care.
To be successful in this role, you must have exceptional decision-making skills consistent with experience. You will be responsible for delivering expert clinical care, problem-solving and assessing each patient's needs to plan and implement effective care.
You must hold current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse and demonstrate competency in clinical practice and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels while providing high-quality nursing care.
Evidence of ongoing education and professional development is essential, particularly for those with relevant postgraduate qualifications or prior experience.
