About this role:

Our team is seeking a qualified Explosion Risk Zone Controller to join our operations in Queensland's Bowen Basin.

  • Supervise coal mine workers and take control of activities in an Explosion Risk Zone within the mine.
  • Conduct inspections of an Explosion Risk Zone, assessing if the zone is safe for operations, covering all matters in Coal Mining Health and Safety legislation.
  • Lead and oversee all personnel, systems and equipment within the mining zone and outbye areas.
  • Submit statutory reports to the Underground Mine Manager.
  • Evaluate compliance to the Safety and Health Management System for the mine.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Explosion Risk Zone Management: Ensure the zone is safe for operations by conducting regular inspections and assessments.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise and direct coal mine workers, promoting a safe and productive work environment.
  • Compliance and Reporting: Submit accurate and timely reports to the Underground Mine Manager, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
Requirements:
  • A current Deputy's Certificate of Competency in Queensland.
  • Proven leadership experience in supervising underground coal mining teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across teams and departments.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the confidence to work independently in a dynamic environment.
