About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Strategic Asset Manager to lead our Capital Works program and related contract management for various projects.

As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for delivering the department's National Capital Works program and related contract management for various projects in Department's national portfolio.

The Department's portfolio includes Office Space, Laboratories, Quarantine Facilities, Air and Sea Ports, and Detector Dog Facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Management of capital works projects to time, budget and stakeholder requirements.
  • Program management overseeing delivery of multiple projects through the delivery life-cycle, including funding bids, forecasting, progress and financial tracking and reporting.
  • Engage and collaborate with key stakeholders to gather and review stakeholder requirements, engagement and coordination of project risk assessments and mitigations.
  • Application of the department's protective security requirements and implementation throughout each project phase.
  • Provide strategic advice and assistance to the Senior Executives and stakeholders.
  • Maintain and ensure ongoing project governance and communication.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • An ability to:
    • Develop and manage Capital Governance framework, guidelines, and procedures.
    • Deliver property projects in line with the department's processes and procedures.
    • Effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders (oral, written, interpersonal and negotiation).
    • Apply the departments' protective security requirements and manage implementation throughout each project phase.
    • Operate under broad direction, exercise a degree of independence, and perform a leadership role.
Desirable Qualifications
  • An understanding of:
    • The Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013, and associated rules.
    • Construction Project and Program Management.
    • The Protective Security Policy Framework.
    • The Commonwealth Property Management Framework.
    • Industry standards relating to the property industry, particularly relevant Australian Building Codes.
