Principal Advisor Role

About the Role:

The Principal Advisor will provide expert advice and support to the Executive Director, contributing to the day-to-day management of the Office of the Executive Director. This role requires a highly organized individual who can work across boundaries, multiple initiatives, and influence others to deliver clear, creative, and future-focused advice in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic policy advice and support on key issues, projects, and activities within the work unit.
  • Undertake critical reviews of materials, including cabinet documents, internal briefs, and media materials, to ensure quality products are progressed by the Office of the Executive Director.
  • Manage staff performance, operations, and correspondence, including budget requirements and human resource matters.
  • Encourage an environment of high-quality service delivery by continually seeking improvements in administrative systems and correspondence processes.
  • Provide executive support services, attend meetings, and follow up on action items to support the Executive Director.
  • Brief the Executive Director on emergent and critical issues that may require sensitive management or attention.

Requirements:

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work in a dynamic environment.
  • Exceptional writing and communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and coordination skills.
  • Great stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills.
  • Innovative and collaborative approach.
  • Knowledge or understanding of infrastructure service provision is beneficial.
