Job Overview

This role involves supporting individuals with their health concerns through the Healthdirect Helpline, providing guidance on whether to seek medical attention or manage conditions at home.

  • Providing health information and assessing symptoms.
  • Conducting comprehensive telephone assessments.
  • Recommending the appropriate time and place of care.
  • Referring callers to other services such as GP services, Urgent Care Clinics, and Virtual Emergency Departments.
About You

You are a skilled and experienced healthcare professional driven by a passion for delivering high-quality virtual care. You want to make a difference by providing early support to individuals with their healthcare needs and reducing avoidable strain on emergency services by connecting consumers to the right care at the right time.

Requirements
  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with a minimum of 3 years' experience.
  • A varied nursing background involving substantial public contact, including but not limited to primary health, acute medical, or emergency department settings.
  • Confidence in applying critical thinking and clinical judgment in high-pressure situations across all age groups and clinical presentations.
  • Exceptional communication skills both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate with compassion and professionalism.
  • A high affinity with using computer systems, including telehealth platforms, databases, and digital communication tools.
  • Flexibility and willingness to work in a dynamic environment.
  • Must be located within Australia.
Key Details
  • Part-time or full-time: Minimum 20 hours per week.
  • Flexible shifts: 2 to 10 hours.
  • Operational hours: 5 PM – 5 AM, Monday to Saturday.
  • Fixed-term contract until June 30, 2026.
