Home and Family Support Worker

This role is open to all qualified applicants.

The Home and Family Support Worker plays a critical part in providing support to residents at Our Place Society. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with a team to create a nurturing atmosphere where everyone feels welcome.

Reporting to the Site Supervisor and Team Lead, the Home and Family Support Worker actively participates in identifying clients' needs, risks, and problems. They design and conduct individual counselling sessions using one-on-one techniques. The worker provides tailored life skills training and advocacy for residents.

The duties and responsibilities of this position reflect the requirements of our residents and shelter programs. These tasks include:

  • Supporting resident support plan development and service delivery
  • Building rapport and establishing trusting relationships with residents
  • Participating in shelter setup and cleanup
  • Distributing essential items to residents
  • Assisting residents with daily activities
  • Facilitating applications and referrals

The ideal candidate will possess strong problem-solving, decision-making, communication, and collaboration skills. They will have knowledge of behaviour management techniques and be able to work independently and creatively.
