Operational Forecaster

  • We are seeking a skilled Operational Forecaster to join our team and play a critical role in real-time electricity system operations across Australia.

The successful candidate will support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of forecast models for electricity demand, distributed photovoltaics (PV), and variable renewable energy generation central to our market systems in both the National Electricity Market (NEM) and Wholesale Electricity Market (WEM).

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage operational forecasting models for electricity demand, rooftop PV, grid-scale solar farms, and wind farms, including the development of forecast models by updating inputs, parameters, and variables to reflect system changes and improve performance.
  • Work closely with our weather providers and control rooms to translate weather risks into system impacts and ensure operators have the information they need.
  • Coordinate across teams and markets to align tools, data, and forecasting processes between the NEM and WEM.
  • Contribute energy and weather information and insights into operational advisories, power system incident reviews, and market reports to support secure and reliable power system operations.

Qualifications:

  • A relevant degree in a field such as mathematics, statistics, or computer science.
  • Proven experience in operational forecasting, data analysis, or a related field.
