AEMO plays a vital role in real-time electricity system operations across Australia.
We are seeking a skilled professional to join our Operational Support division and contribute to the short-term forecasts that feed into key operational and market systems in the NEM and WEM.
These forecasts are essential for supporting network outage planning, reliability assessments, and real-time operational decision-making across the short-term horizon.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and manage operational forecasting models for electricity demand, rooftop PV, grid-scale solar farms, and wind farms.
- Work closely with weather providers and control rooms to translate weather risks into system impacts.
- Coordinate across teams and markets to align tools, data and forecasting processes between the NEM and WEM.
- Contribute energy and weather information and insights into operational advisories, power system incident reviews and market reports.
- Support upgrades of forecasting applications and digital enhancements to improve performance and reliability.
Tertiary qualifications in science, engineering, mathematics, meteorology or a related statistical discipline are required.
Experience in the energy sector or similar industry, preferably in an operations, forecasting or analytical role, is highly desirable.
Candidates should possess clear and confident communication skills, both written and verbal, including experience preparing high-quality reports and presentations.
A working knowledge of data analysis and statistical modelling techniques, including PowerBI, Databricks, SQL and Excel, is also necessary.
