Overview

Manager, Victorian System Resilience & Performance. AEMO is Australia's independent energy system and market operator and system planner. We oversee short-term transition planning to ensure Victoria's power system remains secure, reliable and resilient as coal generation retires. This is a newly created role leading a team to deliver network planning analysis, insights, and technical advisory services for the Victorian Declared Shared Network, with a focus on preparing the power system ahead of major plant closures and through the energy transition.

This position is a senior leadership role, with hybrid working options and location flexibility (Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney or Adelaide). Quarterly travel may be required if not based in Melbourne. Applications close Monday 1 September 2025 – 5pm.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Lead technical services to integrate network assets and system services into Victoria's Declared Shared Network, coordinating projects from Planning through to Delivery.
  • Oversee network and system performance monitoring; ensure operational issues inform Network Planning to strengthen power system resilience.
  • Provide expert technical advice to VicGrid and the Victorian Government on the operational shift from thermal generation to high renewable penetration.
  • Build and empower a high-performing team of seven; role model AEMO values; manage budget, compliance, risk, and workforce planning.
  • Establish strong stakeholder relationships and deliver action plans that support AEMO's strategic goals.
What You Will Bring To The Role
  • Education: Appropriate tertiary and/or postgraduate qualifications in a relevant discipline (for example, engineering).
  • Experience & Knowledge:
  • Significant industry experience in power system planning with strong knowledge of power system modelling, analysis, and primary plant design.
  • Proven track record leading geographically dispersed teams through transformation, delivering high-quality outcomes, and reporting to senior management.
  • Demonstrated capability in project planning, reporting, and delivery, ensuring timely completion to agreed quality standards.
  • Advanced consulting and communication skills to engage diverse stakeholders and negotiate complex technical matters.
  • In-depth understanding of the political, legal, and regulatory environment of the energy sector, including AEMO's Victorian jurisdictional roles and obligations.
