About the Role

This Grounds Maintenance Specialist role plays a vital part in maintaining the high standards of our Memorial Park, ensuring that it remains a beautiful and peaceful place for families to pay their respects. As part of our Parks and Gardens team, you will contribute to new projects that enhance the look and feel of our facilities.

You will perform general maintenance and construction tasks, including participating in burial duties when required and assisting with cremation duties on a rotating roster. Your ability to adapt to changing circumstances and work effectively as part of a team will be essential in this role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain the grounds and gardens at our Memorial Park to ensure they are well-manicured and aesthetically pleasing.
  • Perform general maintenance tasks, such as repairing and maintaining equipment, buildings and infrastructure.
  • Assist with cremation duties on a rotating roster, providing support to our funeral directors and other staff members.
  • Participate in burial duties when required, working closely with our funeral directors to ensure smooth and respectful services.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Horticultural, gardening or landscaping experience (preferably).
  • The capacity to perform heavy lifting, landscaping and general maintenance duties for extended periods of time.
  • Be highly customer-focused, have sensitivity to grieving people and to communicate effectively with the public.
  • A capacity to be at ease working in a cemetery and crematoria environment.
  • A willingness to work co-operatively as part of a team.
  • Current manual unrestricted drivers' license.
