General Manager of Procurement

Ambition is seeking a seasoned General Manager of Procurement to lead our national procurement function. This newly created role will see you driving transformative change, working closely with external consultants to transition our business from a decentralised to a centralised model.

As a key member of our finance department, you will oversee two direct reports, with plans to expand the team to six members over the next 18 months. The ideal candidate is an experienced Procurement Lead ready to step into a General Manager position, with a proven track record of influencing and managing diverse stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and lead the strategy, operating framework, and team structure for the centralised procurement and facilities function.
  • Lead and manage procurement projects for the FM categories, ensuring cost-effective procurement and supplier relationships.
  • Negotiate all commercial contracts, identifying and evaluating suppliers to ensure optimal procurement outcomes.
  • Manage supplier relationships, driving cost savings and mitigating risks associated with supplier relationships and procurement activities.
  • Develop contingency plans to address potential supply chain disruptions, ensuring business continuity.
  • Lead transformation and improvement projects, educating and supporting stakeholders in understanding the importance of procurement processes.
  • Develop, implement, and manage strategic procurement policies, controlling costs and identifying operational efficiencies.
Requirements:
  • A minimum of 8-10 years' experience in a Procurement Lead role, with a strong preference for candidates with CIPS qualification.
  • Extensive knowledge in categories such as HVAC, Cleaning, Security, Fire & Electrical, with experience in contract negotiations and transformation and improvement projects.
  • Strategic Supplier Relationship Management, with a focus on building strong relationships with suppliers.
  • Candidates from Facilities Management, Aged Care, Hospitality, or Property are encouraged to apply, with a strong understanding of building hard services.
