We're looking for an experienced engineering professional to lead our team of specialists in the design and delivery of complex substation projects.

As a senior engineer, you'll provide expert guidance on scoping, design and estimation, ensuring that our projects meet the highest standards of quality and safety.

About the Role

This is a leadership role that requires effective specialist engineering design and advice in relation to zone substations, industrial substations and distributed generation network connections.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist engineering design and advice in accordance with relevant technical manuals, OH&S Act, 'Safety in Design' guidelines and customer requirements.
  • Review and improve processes to ensure high productivity, efficiency and quality outcomes, considering safety, technical, commercial and environmental factors.
  • Monitor, review and approve engineering solutions and proposals by others, as well as manufacturer supplied drawings.
  • Assist, develop and implement new technologies and innovative design practices and standards to meet business needs.
  • Develop ideas and initiatives to enhance the capabilities of the design team and the company's competitive position.
  • Synthesize various considerations to make tough decisions and strike a balance with trade-offs.
  • Ability to develop technical based policies and procedures relating to design and implement change as required.
Requirements
  • Detailed knowledge of new protection and control technologies such as IEC61850 & SCADA and techniques based on on-the-job experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in the use of complex numbers and symmetrical components for fault current analysis by hand and computer software packages.
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of regulatory requirements, OH&S Act, 'Safety in Design' guidelines, standards and codes.
  • Extensive design and protection settings experience in the electrical utility industry.
  • Expert design and compliance knowledge of protection and control systems in the electrical distribution and transmission networks.
  • Extensive experience in specifying and configuring protection relays from major suppliers.
To be Successful
  • A Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) or equivalent qualification.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer with the Business Licensing Authority (BLA).
  • Recognition as a Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) or holding National Engineering Registration (NER).
  • Accreditation as a Registered Professional Engineer of Victoria (RPEV).
