Job Opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced professional to contribute to teaching and research in the Specialty of Rheumatology, Sydney Medical School.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will provide leadership in developing and maintaining a clinical, translational or basic science research program relevant to Rheumatology. They will also provide leadership in the development, implementation and promotion of clinical/education programs for MD students relating to Rheumatology.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a strong research program in Rheumatology, with a focus on generating novel hypotheses and advancing the field through innovative research methodologies
  • Design, implement and evaluate effective educational initiatives within Rheumatology, ensuring high-quality learning experiences for MD students
  • Contribute to the provision of clinical care as part of the healthcare team in the Specialty of Rheumatology, including actively participating in departmental activities such as quality and safety and service improvement
  • Promote a collaborative, team-oriented culture that values diversity and respects the skill sets and opinions of all staff members

About You:

  • You hold a PhD in a field relevant to Rheumatology, with a strong track record of research publications and success in obtaining research funding and supervising research students
  • You are registered as a medical practitioner in NSW with recognition by AHPRA as a Specialist Rheumatologist and Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Physicians, or equivalent
  • You have a proven ability to design, implement and evaluate effective teaching and learning initiatives within Rheumatology, with a focus on enhancing student outcomes and promoting excellence in education
  • You possess a network of relationships with key academic and professional institutions, partners and stakeholders that can be leveraged to enhance the standing of the Specialty, Hospital/School/Faculty and University
