Academic Leader in Smart Construction:

We are seeking a highly accomplished Academic Leader to drive excellence in teaching and research within our School. As an expert in the Smart Construction field, you will provide academic leadership and drive innovation in construction management, digital transformation, and building engineering.

Your focus will be on delivering high-quality research outputs, supervising higher degree by research candidates, and leading scholarly development. You will also contribute strongly to teaching and learning, with a focus on improving student outcomes.

As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in shaping the strategic direction of the Department, including academic leadership and service on committees across the Department, School, College, and University.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Developing and implementing innovative approaches to student-centred learning and quality improvement programs.
  • Nationally recognised research track record, including substantial records of research outputs in high-quality outlets and emerging international recognition in construction management, digital transformation, and building engineering.
  • Research leadership, including building and developing collaborative research teams, mentoring academic staff to deliver high-quality outcomes, attracting and securing external research funding to sustain research effort, managing funded research projects, including complex budgets and reporting requirements.
  • Supervising higher degree by research candidates to maximise research performance.
  • Leading scholarly development and managing and supervising academic teams and members.
  • Understanding of and commitment to financial, governance, and quality management systems within a university.
  • High-level interpersonal, communication, and negotiating skills, including consulting with senior executives, producing executive reports, negotiating agreed directions, outcomes, and targets within a collaborative environment.
  • Effective member of a management team that develops and achieves shared goals and objectives.

Requirements:

  • PhD in Civil Engineering.

Note: Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children and National Police Check.
