Job Title:

We are seeking a skilled Optical Network Development Engineer to join our Core Networking team. This role will involve designing, building, and deploying high-quality network solutions to support AWS's global infrastructure.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in optical communication systems, networking planning, and optimization. Experience with Python or similar scripting languages for automation scripting is highly desirable.

This role requires working closely with vendors and manufacturers to evaluate new hardware and software features, create implementation plans, and automate optical test plans. The engineer will also collaborate with the network operations team to identify operation issues and improve quality and RMA processes.

A day in the life of an Optical Network Development Engineer includes product development and delivery, including hardware and software development, cross-platforms and software integration, and transition to production. Additionally, the engineer will be responsible for lifecycle support, including day-to-day operations, sustaining engineering, operational load automation, and reduction, product and network security, and fiber infrastructure management.
