Therapist Role

A part-time therapist position has become available for a highly skilled professional to join the Child Trauma Service program in Melbourne.

The Child Trauma Service delivers high-quality support services to children, young people, and their families and care systems on an individual and group basis. The team provides therapy and treatment for children and young people who have experienced sexual abuse, family violence or have engaged in harmful sexual behavior.

The successful candidate will work alongside Aboriginal and other local organisations in the delivery of programs and services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct therapeutic assessments using psychometric tools to enhance understanding, assessment, and need of the child or young person.
  • Provide therapeutic support to children, young people, and families using a variety of client-focused, trauma-informed modalities that support healing from trauma.
  • Collaborate with parents, carers, external stakeholders, and government departments to achieve optimal outcomes.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Professional qualifications in Psychology, Social Work, or a related discipline.
  • Eligibility for full membership of a relevant professional body.
  • Substantial experience in the area of child abuse and/or working with traumatised children.
