Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Child and Family Consultant to join our team.

The successful candidate will work closely with educators and other early childhood staff to build their capability to work with traumatised and vulnerable children, strengthening the impact of their existing programs.

As a key member of our Trauma Informed Programs team, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills and expertise in working with trauma-informed approaches and providing coaching and support to educators.

This role involves working in services when children are present to provide in-the-moment coaching and support, as well as out-of-session time to provide reflective support, training and guidance.

You will be required to travel to deliver support at kindergartens and early childhood services, and may also need to visit regional areas from time to time.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide specialist guidance and support to teachers and early childhood educators to strengthen their skills and capacity in working with children who have experienced trauma.
  2. Undertake trauma-informed assessments within kindergartens and early childhood education and care services (ECEC's) to build, deliver and regularly review service plans with stakeholders.
  3. Manage key stakeholder relationships to ensure the program delivers service in line with agreements and plans and within budget parameters.
  4. Build stakeholder relationships to engage and deliver clinical reflective practice and coaching for early childhood staff and line managers within early years services.
  5. Support teachers and early childhood educators to provide safe and supportive learning environments for children who have experienced trauma.
  6. Provide guidance and support to educators regarding the implementation of trauma-informed approaches which create connection and defuse conflict.
Requirements
  • Specialist knowledge, skills and experience in working with trauma-informed approaches and providing coaching and support to educators.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Highly developed organisational and time management skills.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities.
