About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a Carbon Markets Specialist. As a key member of our carbon business, you will play a critical role in helping us grow our carbon project financing and markets business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct Due Diligence: Conduct thorough financial, operational, and physical due diligence on greenfield and brownfield carbon projects across Australia and New Zealand.
  • Develop Financial Solutions: Structure novel financial solutions to meet unique client needs in funding and risk managing carbon projects, including derivative solutions, project finance, structured trade, and traditional lending.
  • Collaborate with Stakeholders: Collaborate across teams and stakeholders internally, including Sales, Trading, Risk, Operations, Legal, and Governance, to deliver best-in-class client outcomes in a timely fashion.
  • Engage with Clients: Engage with leadership teams and senior executives of domestic and international clients across a range of industries, building and maintaining relationships with start-ups, mid-sized corporates, institutional investors, and the largest listed enterprises.
  • Stay Up-to-Date: Maintain a detailed and current understanding of the factors impacting environmental markets in Australia and globally, including regulation, supply and demand trends, competitor behavior, and client preferences.
  • Represent the Company: Represent the company at industry conferences, events, and working groups, providing thought leadership and unique insights to the broader marketplace.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field; advanced degree in finance or environmental science preferred.
  • Experience: Extensive experience in commodity project development, derivatives markets, and structured finance; direct experience with nature-based solutions projects preferred.
  • Skills: Highly proficient with financial modeling and the use of Excel to build, deconstruct, and analyze financial models to provide actionable commercial insights.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills and a proven track record of building and maintaining client relationships; existing contacts in environmental markets highly regarded.
