Job Title: Compliance Coordinator

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Compliance Coordinator to join our high-performing team at Biosecurity Queensland. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in safeguarding human and animal health by preventing and mitigating plant and animal pests and diseases.

About You:

  • You have strong investigative and risk management skills, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • You are responsible for undertaking compliance activities, managing a small team, and providing accurate high-level advice to internal and external stakeholders.
  • You will be involved in responding to and investigating alleged breaches of the Biosecurity Act 2014.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake compliance activities to ensure effective implementation of biosecurity measures.
  • Manage a small team to achieve project objectives and deliverables.
  • Provide accurate high-level advice to internal and external stakeholders on biosecurity matters.

Working with our Invasive Plants and Animals (IPA) program, which directs, facilitates and delivers strategic and targeted action to reduce the impact of invasive species in Queensland. You will provide critical support to help manage the impacts of invasive plants and animals in Queensland.

In this role, you will work closely with our IPA program to develop and implement strategies to prevent, respond to, and recover from biosecurity concerns that threaten our environment and economy. With Queensland being affected by more biosecurity incursions than any other Australian state or territory, your efforts will be integral in helping the government prevent, respond to, and recover from biosecurity concerns.
